Science Curriculum Coordinator & Science Teacher Urbana Middle School |
| What I liked best about the CTER OnLine program: | The strength of the CTER program is that it creates communities of educators both within a school and throughout the state that are uniquely prepared to work together for meaningful change in schools. At Urbana Middle School Kevin, Pam and I have read and discussed many issues in education. We have a common background in evaluation and share a common experience in working on a number of authentic problems and projects. We have the confidence and the past two years' experience to promote discussion and implement changes that will improve the educational experience for children and fellow educators. This was a 'minds and hands on' program. Convenience, Convenience, Convenience. |
| How I managed to fit the coursework into my hectic life: | I am involved in many district and extracurricular activities. I did most of my work at 4 AM and on weekends. Unfortunately, our one year old dog Buster is now trained to get up at 4 AM and will NOT let me sleep in. |
| CTER OnLine has impacted my professional career in the following ways: | Of course, salary, but see what I wrote in 'what I liked best about CTER. |
| Have you had any major life changes you'd like to share? (marriages, births, new jobs, etc.) | cter is great.. you're pretty smart. |
| My most memorable experience in the CTER OnLine program: | I loved doing and reading the White Pages. Suzy and her HomePage certainly kept all of us tuned in to her latest posting. Her Home Page promoted some very intense discussions on ethics. Sandy Levin had some wonderful articles in her 1999 summer course such as the 'Graduation by Exhibition' article that the Urbana CTER students have continued to discuss. |
