What I liked best about the CTER OnLine program: |
Interactions with the other students! I learned so much about the variations in teaching requirements and the different strategies used in working with different types of students. I have incredible respect for the colleagues with whom I worked throughout the program. The most funthings were probably the small group work in analyzing the Wildwood School situation (I couldn't have been in a better, more entertaining group) and the Computer Crime and Technology Misuse group (which was just as good as the Wildwood group). I really enjoyed the flexibility which allowed me to plunge in and explore my areas of interest rather than simply do single assignments each week. |
|
How I managed to fit the coursework into my hectic life: |
I tried to do everything well ahead of time when I was most enthusiastic and energetic. I tried to make my schooling as much a priority as I do my teaching from the outset of the program. |
|
CTER OnLine has impacted my professional career in the following ways: |
I'm more aggressive in grant writing because I now know that I can do it successfully as a result of Sandy's summer class. I still teach and plan to continue in the classroom since it seems to me that the classroom is really where I can make the greatest impact. I also now have confidence in my ability to competently evaluate school programs and my own outside of class activities. |

My most memorable experience in the CTER OnLine program: |
Lots of these: 1) getting to know my classmates and professors, 2) doing an in-depth evaluation of a complex project (Biology Workbench), 3) "working" with the Wildwood bunch over the modem on Wednesday nights (Fall, 1998), 4) Educator's Guide to Computer Crime and Technology Misuse (thanks Megan, Jim and JoLynn - Spring, 1999), 5) writing grants like crazy and getting funded (Summer, 1999), and 6) taking my law final on the computer and having it crash three-quarters of the way through the two hour exam. |
