Week 2: June 11 - June 17
Ed Psy 490I -- Streaming Media Component
Objective
The main objectives of this component of
Ed Psy 490I are to provide an overview
of instructional uses of streaming media, to critically evaluate those uses, and
to consider how best to make use of these relatively new but rapidly evolving
technologies. We will begin by investigating common and exemplary forms of
streaming media for educational purposes. We will try to distinguish the
good from the bad, the efficient from the inefficient. We will discuss
whether or not these technologies are sufficiently advanced and user-friendly to
have practical educational uses, and if so, how they can be successfully
integrated into a curriculum. We will also consider how to evaluate the
processes and results of implementing instructional streaming media.
Finally, students will experiment with developing their own lessons that make
use of streaming media while taking into consideration our Web Board discussions
of class readings and resources.
