"All aspects of the technologies used in this course
helped me create a larger understanding and appreciation for
the ways to utilize such technology. I feel, as with all my
other CTER courses, that technology was a great aid in enhancing
the learning experience." (CTER student, 2003)
Course
Description
The
focus of this project-based course is on explorations
of advanced technologies for learning. Advanced instructional
technologies include the use of multimedia, simulations
and interactive pages to engage learners in new ways
to access instructional maaterials. Students will select
a use of advanced technologies for learning, and will
conduct research, development, and evaluation of the
impact of that use of technologies on learning. This
course will provide with the opportunity to discuss
and reflect on web management, usability and display

Information
There will be NO
face-to-face session. There will be only ONE required synchronous
session, which will be your project presentations which will
take place online at the end of the semester, probably starting
around 9 am CDT and continuing until all the presentations are
finished. We'll have other optional synchronous sessions, as
online office hours and as explorations of new synchronous technologies.
Students will be involved in an overview of what they have learned
in CTER, to be incorporated in a multi-media eportfolio. We
also want them to plan what technologies they want to integrate
into their teaching over the next academic year, which will
be expressed in a multi-media e-plan.
We plan to introduce several advanced technologies in this seminar,
but we have some flexibility. You'll choose one technology to
study in depth and will conduct a major project that uses that
technology to accomplish some important educational goals that
you have.
