Baumer7 (5:14 PM): HI! I am back. i was going to teach outside the computer room about charcater education, so when they got upstairs to the lab, they could view the site and then take the quiz.

Baumer7 (5:14 PM): what more do i need to add to the project?

jlevinjal (5:15 PM): Okay, it would probably be useful for you to create a page that "frames" the lessons you have planned.

jlevinjal (5:17 PM): How about just working out one plausible lesson, and create a web page to support that? Then, when you get the workbook, you can modify it to make it fit.

jlevinjal (5:19 PM): Well, you'll have a project page, and you'll have a project report page. Is that what you mean?

Baumer7 (5:19 PM): no I have the project page that explains it, then a link to the lesson followed by teh web site followed by teh quiz?

Baumer7 (5:20 PM): I have the one named project, then the lesson, then the web site, then the quiz.

jlevinjal (5:20 PM): Well, I see your project page as a "launching" page for your students, and then a place to come back to for your quiz or whatever.

jlevinjal (5:20 PM): Okay, you can have several pages on your "project site" - that's fine.

jlevinjal (5:21 PM): But you'll have to tell your students how to come back to your project site.

Baumer7 (5:21 PM): now about the quiz.... I need to make a NO and YES page so when they click an answer it will tell them if they were right?

jlevinjal (5:21 PM): That's one way to do it - requires making a lot of pages but they're all pretty much the same, so making copies is pretty easy.

jlevinjal (5:22 PM): That's a good place to start - then you can get more sophisticated later.

Baumer7 (5:22 PM): the project page i turned in, do i need for the students to see? I have one named Character that explains the same things except in a student friendly way

jlevinjal (5:22 PM): You'll need a unique "yes" page and "no" page for each question in the quiz.

Baumer7 (5:23 PM): if i have 4 answers, i have can have a link on answer "a" and then a link on answer"b", and so on?

jlevinjal (5:23 PM): The one called "project" is what I'm referring to as your project report, which your students may never see - it is for me and the rest of the CTER5 folks.

jlevinjal (5:24 PM): Yes, found unique pages - kind of a lot of pages, but it is simple to do.

jlevinjal (5:25 PM): I wouldn't generate a lot of quiz questions until you see how this works.

jlevinjal (5:25 PM): The project report tells us what you've done and why. The project starting page would be the one that your students see.

Baumer7 (5:26 PM): that one i named character

jlevinjal (5:26 PM): On that page, you would explain (in their language) what they're to do, provide the link to a part of the other site, then provide a link to the quiz.

jlevinjal (5:26 PM): You might want to draw a map of all these files and draw between them the links.

jlevinjal (5:29 PM): Take a piece of paper, draw a rectangle for your first page and write inside the name, draw rectanges for all those that you'll create linked from that page, etc.

mrsjohn2308 (5:32 PM): Well, we divided the paper in thirds and left a third for her. What if she doesn't show up by next week?

jlevinjal (5:32 PM): Well, just divide things up three ways, and you two can work on your parts. If Mary gets going later, great, if not, that that's the way it goes.

jlevinjal (5:32 PM): If she doesn't do anything, then you just won't have any changes to make of that 1/3 of the paper.

jlevinjal (5:41 PM): I suggest that one of the group "download" the file(s), and be the keeper of the "master" copy.

jlevinjal (5:41 PM): THen the other folks send changes to make, and the "keeper of the master file" makes the changes.

Baumer7 (5:42 PM): i have two sections. on the other disabilities part none of teh bibliographies work. I already have the whole paper downloaded

jlevinjal (5:42 PM): Then when all changes are make, the "keeper" uploads the revised copy.

jlevinjal (5:42 PM): For your project, if there are multiple files, that things might be even simplier.

Baumer7 (5:43 PM): one part on accessibility was from1997 and william clinton, so I am going to change it to President Bush since he had a part on it.

jlevinjal (5:43 PM): Sure, that's fine - minor changes are great. Just don't put too much time/effort into this - instead put the major effort into your major proejct.

jlevinjal (5:44 PM): Well, it will need to be combined eventually, but it is easier if each person in the group is revising a different file.

Baumer7 (5:44 PM): my lesson is going to be in class on how to be a good friend.

Baumer7 (5:45 PM): they cna break up into groups in the classroom to discuss it. How much of that lesson do you want me to put in the project?

jlevinjal (5:46 PM): Enough that we can see how it will work - focus so that we can see the whole process for one part - you can expand later after this class but before the school year starts.

Baumer7 (5:48 PM): i was going to use chart paper and discuss as a whole class, and then they can break up into groups to draw a picture. i cna keep those posted until they finish the project.
