Instructional Technologist

Illinois College

What I liked best about the CTER OnLine program:
I liked the variety of online formats. The subject content was enriched by the different technologies and each class was structured differently, with it's own unique uses of technology. Each professor had his or her own style of online instruction. Not only were we being taught curriculum, technology, and education reform; it was modeled for us.
How I managed to fit the coursework into my hectic life:
Determination, organization and a laptop. I learned to read, write, study and create projects in small snippets of time. My laptop went everywhere with me. The hour of warm up before my son's baseball game was the perfect time to work on projects. The 20 minute wait in the orthodontist's office gave me time to read several pages of text or write response thoughts. And finally, I planned time in my schedule each day for coursework only.
CTER OnLine has impacted my professional career in the following ways:
CTER gave me the knowledge and qualifications to secure a newly created position on the college campus as Instructional Technologist. It has also caused me to think about the next step in my education and profession.
Have you had any major life changes you'd like to share? (marriages, births, new jobs, etc.)
None!
My most memorable experience in the CTER OnLine program:
I'm not sure I can come up with just one moment. Most memorable is the cohort of students that shared this experience. They became an extension of who I am. Our support of one another was invaluable. Knowing they were able to live life, and complete their coursework, was encouraging as well as a personal challenge. To see their progress challenged me to do my best, and see what I could do better. Thanks Cohort 6!
